Brett Hetherwick

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Mr. Hetherwick is a co-founder of BroadVail Capital Partners and serves as a Managing Partner.

Prior to forming BroadVail, Mr. Hetherwick worked at MetroNational, a privately held real estate firm, where he was responsible for the operation of the company’s multi-billion-dollar real estate portfolio which spanned a broad range of asset classes. Prior experience includes a financial analyst role with Gen Cap Partners, an institutional real estate investment advisor, and an internal auditor role with Union Pacific Resources, an Oil and Gas E&P Company.

Mr. Hetherwick earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance and accounting from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business and an MBA with a focus on entrepreneurial finance from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

James Tramuto

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Mr. Tramuto is a co-founder of BroadVail Capital Partners and serves as a Managing Partner. 

Prior to forming BroadVail, Mr. Tramuto worked at Jones Lang LaSalle (“JLL”) in the real estate investment banking division. He was responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing asset level joint ventures in addition to co-managing JLL’s joint venture equity placement team. Prior to that, Mr. Tramuto worked at CBRE Capital Markets, where he was responsible for debt and equity origination for real estate assets across the US.

Mr. Tramuto earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Texas A&M University’s Mays School of Business.

Robert Zorich

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Mr. Zorich is a co-founder of BroadVail Capital Partners and serves as a Managing Partner. 

Prior to forming BroadVail, Mr. Zorich worked at Jones Lang LaSalle (“JLL”) in the real estate investment banking division. In this role, Mr. Zorich was responsible for sourcing, structuring, and executing asset level joint ventures across the US and co-managing JLL’s joint venture equity placement team. Prior to that, Mr. Zorich worked at CBRE Capital Markets where he was responsible for debt and equity origination for real estate assets across the US.  

Mr. Zorich earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in real estate from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

Michael Gwin

Partner

Mr. Gwin joined BroadVail in 2014 and is primarily focused on portfolio company management, asset management, and capital markets related needs of the Fund’s investments.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Mr. Gwin worked at JLL in the real estate investment banking division. In this role, Mr. Gwin was responsible for underwriting, structuring, and executing asset level joint ventures across the US. Prior to JLL, Mr. Gwin was with Thackeray Partners, a Dallas-based real estate private equity firm, where he was responsible for underwriting, asset management, and acquisitions. 

Mr. Gwin earned a Bachelor’s degree in business in both finance and real estate from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas.

Gaby Appeddu

Tax Manager

Justin Cables

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Cables joined BroadVail in 2016 and is responsible for treasury, accounting, financial reporting and budgeting. He also works closely with BroadVail’s portfolio companies on accounting, internal control and reporting matters.

Before joining BroadVail, Mr. Cables spent ten years with Ernst & Young (“EY”) in the assurance practice. Mr. Cables was responsible for managing multiple teams and serving domestic and international clients in both the public and private sectors. His experience includes SEC financial reporting, internal controls, IPO and debt offerings, asset acquisitions and dispositions, private equity recapitalizations, budgeting and resource management, technical accounting research and consultation and coordination and supervision of subject matter experts. During his time at EY, Mr. Cables led client engagements for numerous transactions including public and private debt offerings totaling $12 billion, asset acquisitions and dispositions exceeding $8.5 billion, an initial public offering of $1 billion, and a private equity recapitalization of $1.2 billion.

Mr. Cables earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Masters of Accountancy at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business.

Bryce Dooley

Investment Associate

Mr. Dooley joined BroadVail in 2023 and is primarily focused on portfolio company management, asset management, and capital markets related needs of the Fund’s investments.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Mr. Dooley worked at JLL on the Multi-housing Investment Advisory team. In this role, he supported dispositions and equity placement activity for institutionally and privately-owned assets throughout the greater Houston area.

Mr. Dooley earned Bachelor’s degrees in business in both finance and accounting from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Finance degree from The University of Texas.

Jimmy Greenwood

Vice President

Mr. Greenwood joined the BroadVail team in 2022 and is primarily focused on portfolio company management, research, and capital market related needs of the Fund’s investments.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Mr. Greenwood worked at Newmark on the real estate Debt and Structured Finance team. In this role, Mr. Greenwood was responsible for sourcing, structuring, underwriting, and closing multi-family acquisition and development transactions. Prior to Newmark, Mr. Greenwood spent four years at J.P. Morgan in the Asset and Wealth Management division advising institutional clients.

Mr. Greenwood earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication with a focus in business from The University of Texas at Austin.

Katie Hood

Senior Accountant

Ms. Hood joined BroadVail in 2021 as a Senior Accountant. Alongside her team, she is responsible for assisting in the treasury, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting functions. She also works closely with BroadVail’s portfolio companies on accounting, controls, and reporting matters.

Before joining BroadVail, Katie spent over two years with Deloitte, LLP in the tax practice, most recently as a Senior Tax Consultant, serving a mix of both, public and private clients, primarily in the Oil & Gas space. In that role, she was responsible for reviewing tax compliance and coordinating and training other tax consultants, both in the US and India. Her work included federal tax compliance and consulting services, estimated tax calculations, and depletion calculations, and projections for consolidated C Corporations and private equity partnership clients.

Ms. Hood is a CPA and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University.

Alexandra Holzer

Director of Investor Relations

Ms. Holzer joined BroadVail in 2023 and leads the firm's investor relations and capital raising initiatives.  

Before joining BroadVail, Ms. Holzer spent eleven years as the Director of Investor Relations at The Energy & Minerals Group ("EMG"), a private equity firm specializing in natural resources. Prior to EMG, she held the position of Vice President at Riverstone Holdings LLC in New York, contributing to fundraising and investor relations for five years. Before Riverstone, Ms. Holzer was the Associate to the Global CEO of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. She began her career at Morgan Stanley, working across various divisions, including the Latin American Financial Institutions Group of the Investment Banking Division, the Strategic Relationship Management Group of the Fixed Income Division, and the Global Institutional Marketing Division.

Ms. Holzer earned a Bachelor's degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.

Ashley McWhorter

Controller

Ms. McWhorter joined BroadVail in 2019 and is responsible for treasury, accounting, financial reporting and budgeting and works closely with BroadVail’s portfolio companies on accounting, controls and reporting matters.

Before joining BroadVail, Ms. McWhorter spent 4 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in the assurance practice, most recently as a Senior Assurance Associate. In that role, she was responsible for the coordination of multiple teams in the assurance practice, and served domestic and international clients in the private sector. Her experience includes GAAP and IFRS financial reporting, internal control over financial reporting, technical accounting research and memo preparation, asset acquisitions and dispositions, coordination of national and international accounting teams, valuation and significant estimate review, and the training and supervision of staff.

Ms. McWhorter earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Accountancy at Texas A&M University’s Mays School of Business.

Sarah Neuhaus

Vice President, Investor Relations

Mrs. Neuhaus joined BroadVail in 2018 and is focused on investor relations and fundraising.

Prior to BroadVail, Mrs. Neuhaus was Investor Relations Manager for Salient Partners, a Houston-based alternative asset manager. While at Salient, she developed and maintained relationships across a broad array of client types for various product lines. Previously, Mrs. Neuhaus held investor relations roles with a family office and a hedge fund. She began her career as a recruiting coordinator at Goldman Sachs.

Mrs. Neuhaus earned a Bachelor’s degree in public relations with a concentration in business foundations from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jessica Nunez

Data Scientist

Ms. Nunez joined Broadvail in 2022 as a Data Scientist. Alongside her team, she is responsible for processing and analyzing market data, as well as applying data science techniques to drive data-driven decision making.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Ms. Nunez conducted research on behalf of Texas A&M University and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Prior to that, she interned at Copernic Technologies as a Developer/Data Scientist in 2019. Jessica has also worked as a Data Science Consultant for Lineage Logistics, a leading global cold storage and food logistics company. Her work broadly covers development of abstract mathematical models, utilization of machine learning algorithms and in-depth application of data science techniques on unique business problems.

Ms. Nunez earned a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Analytics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Clay Paschall

Vice President of Portfolio Management

Mr. Paschall joined BroadVail in 2017 and is primarily focused on portfolio company management, asset management, and research related needs of BroadVail investments.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Mr. Paschall spent over two years with Hines Advisors LP. In this role, he supported asset acquisitions for multiple funds through research, underwriting, and valuation of office and industrial product globally. In addition, Mr. Paschall supported asset management of an office and industrial portfolio, comprised of 6.3 million square feet and located across Germany, Poland, and Russia.

Mr. Paschall earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance and a Master of Real Estate from Texas A&M University’s Mays School of Business.

Connor Phillips

Vice President

Mr. Phillips joined BroadVail in 2022 and is primarily focused on portfolio company management, research as well as asset and investment management.

Prior to BroadVail, Mr. Phillips spent three years with Mill Creek Residential. In this role, he focused on all aspects of multi-family acquisitions across the country including deal sourcing, underwriting, due diligence and capital raising. He also participated in asset management for the company’s acquisition portfolio. Prior to Mill Creek, Mr. Phillips spent two years at HFF focusing on multi-family investment sales in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Phillips earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance and a Master of Real Estate from Texas A&M University’s Mays School of Business.

Marlee Tarwater

Senior Accountant

Ms. Tarwater joined BroadVail in 2021 as a Senior Accountant. Alongside the rest of the accounting team, she is responsible for treasury, accounting, financial reporting and budgeting. She also works closely with BroadVail’s portfolio companies on accounting, controls and reporting matters.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Ms. Tarwater spent over two years with Ernst & Young (“EY”) in the tax practice, most recently as a Senior Tax Associate. Her work included tax compliance for trusts, corporations and partnerships across federal, state and international jurisdictions. In addition, she is experienced in GAAP financial reporting of income taxes in accordance with ASC 740. Ms. Tarwater served on EY’s ‘Women in Energy’ committee as well as the Houston Advisory Council.

Ms. Tarwater is a CPA and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University.

Harrison Willis

Vice President

Mr. Willis joined the BroadVail team in 2018 and is primarily focused on research, due diligence, and the underwriting of potential investments.

Prior to BroadVail, Mr. Willis served as a Development and Investment Associate at Foundry Commercial (formerly CNL Commercial Real Estate) where he evaluated potential build-to-suit transactions, assisted in due diligence, and was responsible for the firm’s monthly asset management reports. Prior to joining Foundry, Mr. Willis worked for a family office where he focused on the underwriting of greenfield developments for mission critical industrial assets.

Mr. Willis earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas Christian University, and a Master’s degree with a focus on real estate finance from Cornell University’s SC Johnson School of Business.

Leanne Woolley

Executive Assistant

Ms. Woolley joined BroadVail in 2014 and serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Managing Partners.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Ms. Woolley spent over three years as a Business Development Coordinator and Office Manager with Houston Methodist Hospital and 15 years as a Graphic Designer with NASA’s Lunar and Planetary Institute.

Ms. Woolley earned a Bachelor’s degree in advertising with a concentration in art from The University of Texas at Austin.

Louis Yu

Applied Data Scientist

Mr. Yu joined BroadVail in 2018 and is primarily focused on managing the development and execution of data, research, and model development focused on bridging portfolio company expertise with a measured, data-driven foundation to support decision-making.

Prior to joining BroadVail, Mr. Yu spent over three years with Lockheed Martin, most recently as a Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer. In this role, he developed algorithms, simulations, and mathematical models to support conceptual, laboratory-tested, and fielded systems for the warfighter. During this time, Mr. Yu devised ingenious technical solutions that have been recognized as intellectual property by the company and has published a paper in a peer-reviewed journal. From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Yu was with Applied Research Laboratories (“ARL”), a Department of Defense University-Affiliated Research Center. While at ARL, Mr. Yu supported research dedicated to improving United States national security by implementing cutting edge technology onto robust systems.

Mr. Yu earned a Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from The University of Texas Cockrell School of Engineering and a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering.

Kelly Zhang

Data Scientist

Ms. Zhang joined Broadvail in 2023 as a Data Scientist. Alongside her team, she is responsible for processing and analyzing market data, as well as applying data science techniques to drive data-driven decision making.

Prior to joining Broadvail, Ms. Zhang spent over a year with JP Morgan Chase as a Senior Quantitative Analyst. Her focus encompassed formulating data quality checks, constructing data pipelines to standardize survey outcomes, and deploying data science techniques to pinpoint challenges and steer strategic decision-making. In addition, Ms. Zhang has previously interned at the Boeing Company. There, she designed database-driven reporting solutions to streamline information accessibility, contributed to the refinement of government defense contracts, and evaluated the financials of an operational military program and provided a viable solution to scale back production.

Ms. Zhang earned a dual Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Information Systems from the University of Washington, and a Master of Quantitative Management: Business Analytics from Duke University.
